Attention: H.R. Depts. We need to talk.
It is not okay for you to save your own time by not informing interviewers that they did not get the job. I don't care if you don't feel you have the time, or if you'd rather not be the bearers of bad news.
It is not okay for you to not inform applicants that they did not get an interview. That's right, I just took it one step further. Why?
Because people are not cows. Because you didn't put out a request for people to come see your museum. You *asked* for applicants to see who would be a good fit with your company. These people spent lots of their personal time trying to make themselves look good for you. Many of them earned a four year degree just to get a second *glance* from you. Some have spent months or even years in completely unpaid internships just so they could checkmark the box saying "1-2 years experience". Writing individual cover letters, changing up their resumes, getting interview outfits, stressing out over the interview, sometimes even writing 'thank you' notes... all for you.
And you can't even summon up the courage to inform them that they didn't get the job?
If karma exists, you are going to be getting lice tomorrow. Dress appropriately.
